How to get there

From Cabadbaran City proper, take a tricycle to Purok 7, Barangay Calibunan. The travel time is approximately 10-15 minutes.

The place is open and accessible to the public 24 hours seven days a week. It is an open public space that everyone can freely visit and enjoy. However, you may need to budget for transportation and food. Snacks and refreshments are available at nearby sari-sari stores.

As per the Aquatic News Index (ANI) which contains aquatic science-related newspaper articles available at the Aquaculture Department of the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEADEC/AQD) Library and the Philippine Star, the Calibunan Fish Sanctuary is recognized as the most successful artificial reef sanctuary in the country. The sanctuary has earned its spot among the top 10 places to visit in Cabadbaran City by Sunstar, offering a unique blend of natural beauty and conservation efforts.

• The Calibunan Fish Sanctuary is open to the public 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

• There is no entrance fee to visit the sanctuary.

• There are vendors nearby selling food and drinks.

• The best time to visit the sanctuary is during sunset.

• Be sure to check the weather forecast beforehand as the bridge can be quite windy.

The place is currently not managed and the jetty port is open to the public. However, there are people who oversee and maintain the fish sanctuary. People and boats are not allowed to disturb the fish sanctuary on the left side area of the jetty port.
